The following are some tips to make the job of choosing a little easier. Most people are surprised to find out that quartz is a very hard material. In fact it is one of the hardest substances used in house work today. Quartz in its natural state is made up of nearly 96 percent quartz and the rest is a natural resin bond. These qualities make it one of the most durable counter tops in the market today.

Because of its eternal toughness, it is virtually impossible to scratch or stain it. Over time it will not show any real signs of wear and tear. Sure, there maybe other types of material you can use, but after a few years the alternatives to quartz will start to show its age. This quality of quartz means that it will face up to abuse that worktops will inevitably face. In an area like a kitchen, there may be many people moving about and doing work. The next thing to keep in mind is the various different types of styles and colors available with low cost quartz worktops. No other naturally occurring counter top material gives such a wide choice of colors such as quartz. Many of the colors available with quartz are not available with, say, granite stone. Some of the choices as far as colors go are beige, sand, cream and white. If you are into more bold colors then it is available in red, yellow and orange. Out of all the colors available perhaps black is the most popular. For some people a color that matches the interior decoration of the house is important. With low cost quartz, this task will be much easier.

As far as styling of quartz goes, there are several different choices. Some of the styles include mirror or reflective flecks and metal quartz design. These types of styles are very popular with modern or contemporary style houses. In this day and age finding low cost quartz worktops is easy. It’s always exciting when planning a new project around the home or workplace especially when that project involves a makeover or redesign of a currently outdated design. It may be even more exciting making plans for a totally new construction of the same. Countertops are one of the most frequently updated design elements of a home and therefore should be given much thought before plunging into creating this important feature.

Since everyone has their own opinion, with good reason, it may be hard to say what the very best worktop might be, but certainly quality quartz worktops would be one of those at the top of any list. Style tastes and individual needs must be taken into consideration when making such a choice and with the variety of patterns and colours to choose from quartz can fit into most design plans.

Quality quartz worktops lend both appeal and durability to the working surfaces of homes or shops and ease of maintenance makes them the perfect choice to add to any décor. Not only are they resistant to chips and able to stand the heat of any kitchen they have a look of elegance that lends itself to higher end design for the kitchen as well as the bathroom.

The only problem that one might have when choosing quality quartz worktops is making the decision between all the many patterns and colours to choose from. Regardless whether a home owner wants to make their worktops stand out or blend into the overall design of the home or office it can be done by making a selection from the many available styles.

The durability alone of quality quartz worktops is a very good reason to choose quartz to replace an existing worktop or even to add it to the décor of new construction. The satisfaction of knowing that a worktop will not succumb to a hot pot placed on it or will not chip or scratch during the regular work that is performed on it is truly an added value.

A kitchen that has a quality quartz worktop can be a place to gather for the children after school while they discuss the events of the day, or help each other with home work while their parents watch over the process. It can also be a place to get together to make plans for some new adventure that gets everyone excited. With a quality worktop there is no fear about scratches and spills that often happen with lesser quality products.

silestone quartz

Silestone® is a quartz surface made from top quality raw materials that presents exceptional physical and mechanical features together with unique beauty, ideal for interior decoration. It requires very little maintenance as its unique production process creates a surface with low porosity, which prevents fluid absorption.
Silestone® is the only quartz work surface to include antibacterial protection that ensures the highest degree of hygiene and security.
These guidelines have been developed with you in mind to ensure that you continue to get maximum enjoyment from Silestone Quartz worktop.
Everyday cleaning
On a day to day basis Silestone® simply requires a wipe down with a soft cloth of soap and water to maintain its natural beauty and shine. Regular cleaning and maintenance of Silestone® ‘leather’ finish shall ensure maintenance of its luxurious texture. As polished Silestone® has a low porosity it does not require the application of any worktop sealants and is naturally highly resistant to surface staining from cooking oil, wine, coffee etc.
In the event of any stubborn marks on the polished Silestone® surface, firstly wipe the area clean with warm water and then apply original CIF to the area. Rinse the area with water after cleaning.
Silestone recommends the specifically developed cleaner Q-Force available from London Granite. For marks that harden when they dry (food, gum etc) remove by gently scraping the material off the Silestone® work surface using a blunt plastic blade than wash and remove any residual matter with non abrasive cleaner and warm water.
Any lime-scale or water marks can be removed using household lime-scale remover. Manufacturer’s usage recommendations should be adhered to.
Heat
Silestone® is extremely resistant to heat and can withstand high temperatures for brief periods of time without damage. Although Silestone® is more heat resistant than most other surfaces, all stone can be damaged by sudden and extreme temperature changes especially near the edges.
For this reason we strongly recommend using a trivet or hot pad to protect your Silestone® work surface from extreme heat.
Chemicals to avoid
Avoid exposing your Silestone® work surface to strong chemicals and solvents. Items to avoid include nail polish remover, neat bleach, caustic soda, paint strippers and cleaning solutions that contain trichloroethane or methylene or dimetichlorine. Also avoid highly aggressive cleaning agents like oven/grill cleaners that have high alkaline/Ph levels.
If any of the above contaminates are spilled on the surface rinse off immediately with plenty of water to minimise their effect.
